      I think this picture also sums up something that can be forgotten when we teach about religions: that they are lived belief systems. What a religion means for one person is not what it means for another. I think this is a key part of learning religious literacy: learning how to decipher the key features of a religion, despite diversity. Many religions have narratives, symbols, traditions and sacred histories that are intended to give meaning to life or to explain the origin of life or the universe. They tend to derive morality, ethics, religious laws or a preferred.
